The Archbishop��s Christmas Message

Dear beloved citizens of Hong Kong,

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. The purpose of the Word becoming flesh is to build a two-folded relationship: the relationship between God and human beings and the relationship among our fellowmen. Regardless what races we belong to or what classes we are of, or whether we are rich or poor, we all are God��s beloved children. Through such relationship it, simultaneously, affirms that all human beings are brothers and sisters and so we must respect each other, embrace each other, and live harmoniously together. However, in history and at present time, it tells us that some people decline to accept this sort of relationship. For the sake of their own interests, hatred and various other reasons, instead they kill, reject and discriminate against each other. Such acts cause great injury and destruction to the social community.

The Church of Shalom

In September 2006, I was sent to the St Andrew��s Primary School to start a mission, working to a framework drawn up and overseen by a Steering Committee consisted of All Saints��, Kei Oi and St Thomas��s together with the respective principals of the St Andrew��s Primary School and St Mary��s Mok Hing Yiu College. Under the leadership of the Revd Thomas Chow, the Vicar of All Saints��, Kei Oi was to join All Saints�� in providing resources to facilitate the development of the mission.

THE WORLD DAY OF PRAYER WORSHIP SERVICE �X St John��s Cathedral on Saturday, 1st March 2008

On the 121st anniversary of the first World Day of Prayer Worship Service in 1887, and with Hong Kong as one of the 170 participating countries and areas, Archbishop Paul Kwong preached to the theme of God��s Wisdom provides New Understanding. in his sermon entitled Focus on God explaining how people can receive the Wisdom of God and the kind of new understanding that the Wisdom of God brings to people today.

The Patronal Festival and 160th Anniversary of the Foundation of The Cathedral Church of St John the Evangelist

In commemoration of the festival of her Patron, St John the Evangelist, our historic SKH cathedral held staged a memorable Sung Eucharist in the evening of Sunday, 30th December 2007. The service also served as the finale in a series of celebratory events held in 2007 to mark the 160th anniversary of the laying of the cathedral��s original foundation stone in March 1847.. The Most Revd Paul Kwong, Primate and Archbishop of HKSKH, Bishop of Hong Kong Island, presided at the Eucharist and the Most Revd Peter Kwong, Archbishop Emeritus, preached the sermon.
