Archbishop and Church members held a sharing session

Views were expressed honestly with regard to different questions
Sheng Kung Hui should become a responsible and loving body
HKSKH Archbishop Kwong held the annual fellowship meeting last Monday which continued for three consecutive evenings. Archbishop Kwong remarked that even though he frequently shook hands and exchanged greetings at Church with members, he had little time to mingle with them in free conversations, therefore the attendees should use such opportunity to raise questions and exchange opinions about Church life.

Someone in the audience asked about the future development of SKH.  Archbishop Kwong said we should be both grateful and ashamed with Hong Kong at the present.  During SARS, Hong Kongers were prepared to make sacrifices and be responsible.  Unfortunately, when SARS was over, such sentiments were lost.  Archbishop Kwong said that the Church should work on improving the qualities of Hong Kong citizens and encouraged people to frequently reflect on themselves.

Archbishop Kwong also encouraged believers to capture any opportunity to further understand and help people that surround them.  A lot of people faced difficulties and challenges in their spiritual lives and daily living.  They need help on aspects like material needs, friendship, and spiritual fulfilment.  It would be ideal if Church members could gently coax them to use Church resources for counselling.

He strongly believed that believers can definitely be friendly and caring.  HKSKH should encourage the Church to become a responsible, caring, and loving organization.

Someone raised the issue of 'praying in tongues".  She heard that some Christians can pray in tongues and she wanted to know what the Archbishop's opinions were on this.  The Archbishop responded by saying this is a special gift from God to some people.  Of course, people who possess such gifts should be grateful.  But others should not be overly bothered nor imitate them.

Archbishop Kwong also pointed out that fifty years ago, speaking in tongues was a popular practice.  There have been a variety of practices in the history of Christianity.  And yet not one of them has been permanent.  Believers must not be controlled by nor over- indulge in any one practice.  It is sufficient that each believer possesses a proper faith and spiritual discipline, and lead a normal life.  Any blessings from God cannot be learnt as they gifts from God.  They also come in different forms without our asking.  It is sufficient that we try our best.
